Lots more strawberries today. I picked nearly a tub full this morning. They are being eaten by the family nearly as quickly as I bring them home. No strawberry jam this year.
The newly planted peas are doing quite well in the two beds. The shoots have started to appear. No signs of the flowers, carrots or parsnips yet though. The potatoes are also looking healthy. I’ve earthed them up again. Most of what I planted has now grown, although a couple look a bit small yet. Not bad given the state of the soil.
The grapevine is still massive. I haven’t tackled this at all this year. I’m waiting to see what develops. My neighbours have told me the grapes are very nice. Not sure when to expect them.
Sadly I’m losing the courgette battle. Of the twelve planted only five are unscathed. I’m going to focus on these and if any of the others survive they will be a bonus. I’ve given in and got some slug pellets. They are children and pet friendly according to the packet.
