A very productive day today, with the help of my family. That final raised bed is now cleared of weeds and dug over. If you remember, it was mostly the clay soil of the rest of the plot so needed a bit more effort to clear the weeds. Normally you wouldn’t stand on a raised bed to dig it over, but it is quite large – just a little too wide to reach the centre from the paths. But it’s done, so that meant that lots of seeds could be sown. Peas (Kelvedon Wonder), mangetout (Kennedy), parsnips (white gem) and carrots (Autumn King 2). Also, in the bed that used to be brick lined next to the raspberries I planted peas, mangetout and some flowers – Corn flowers and Asters. It’s a great feeling to have some much of the plot in use.
